Successful Wardrobe Tips for Professional Head Shots and Professional Photography

Choosing the right wardrobe for corporate head shots is essential to convey a professional and polished image. Here are some tips on selecting the best wardrobe for corporate head shots:

  1. Wear Professional Attire:

    • Opt for traditional, professional clothing. This might include a business suit, blazer, or dress.
    • Choose solid colours or subtle patterns for a classic look.
  2. Select Neutral Colours:

    • Neutral colours such as black, gray, navy, and white work well for corporate head shots, but consider a small pop of colour in your tie or a small patterned scarf or blouse/top.  Artistic head shots can be more color creative
  3. Avoid Busy Patterns:

    • Steer clear of overly busy patterns, really bright colours or loud prints, as they can be distracting and may not photograph well. A simple pattern is great as it adds additional elements to your image.
  4. Mind Your Neckline:

    • Choose a neckline that is appropriate for a professional setting. Select a conservative neckline that is not too low for a corporate head shot.
  5. Grooming Matters:

    • Ensure that your clothing is clean, lint free, well-pressed, and in good condition. Attention to grooming details enhances your overall professional appearance of your image.
  6. Consider Company Culture:

    • Take into account the dress code and culture of your workplace. Your outfit should align with the overall atmosphere of your company.
  7. Avoid Flashy Accessories:

    • Keep accessories simple and understated. Avoid large, flashy jewellery or accessories that may distract from your face.
  8. Pay Attention to Fit:

    • Clothes that fit well not only look more polished but also contribute to a confident appearance. Avoid clothes that are too tight or too loose.
  9. Bring Options:

    • Bring a couple of outfit options with you. This allows you to choose the one that looks best on camera.
  10. Consider Your Industry:

    • Tailor your wardrobe to suit the expectations of your industry. For example, more creative industries allow for slightly more artistic attire.
  11. Coordinate Colours:

    • If your head shot will be part of a company website or promotional materials, consider coordinating your outfit colours with the company's branding.

Remember, the goal is to present yourself as approachable, competent, and professional. Choose clothing that makes you feel confident and aligns with the image you want to project in a corporate setting.
